Equal Rights for Women
Russian
women started to gain equality earlier than women in the United States, because
men and women had access to equal
education and job opportunities that reflected the Soviet philosophy in the
former Soviet Union. In 1937, women and men had equal rights, responsibilities and
women joined the workface when Soviet constitution declared; also millions of Russian men
were away in the military during World War II, so Russian women filled their
places at work. Soviet women worked full time at their jobs, although they had the primary
responsibilities for taking care of the family. As
soon as they had to shop, cook the evening
meal, wash, iron, or mend the family’s clothes after they finished their work.
Since U.S.
women started to demonstrate, they could do the work of men during World War
II.
